A free Stream Deck alternative — no hardware required

Elgato Stream Deck is the hardware category leader and rightly so. But not everyone wants to spend $80–$250 on a physical device or pay a monthly subscription for the mobile app. Klikor turns your existing iPhone or Android into a full-featured button deck — free at its core, with a one-time Pro upgrade that costs less than a cup of coffee.

Where Stream Deck genuinely wins

  • Physical, tactile LCD keys — no phone in sight
  • Massive plugin ecosystem built over many years
  • macOS fully supported (including Siri integration)
  • Deep brand recognition and community resources
  • Stream Deck Mobile works on iOS and Android

Where Klikor wins

  • No hardware to buy — uses your phone you already own
  • Genuinely free unlimited core (not capped at 6 keys)
  • One-time Pro, not a monthly subscription
  • LAN-only — no cloud relay, no account, no data sent out
  • Works beyond streaming: scripts, smart home, productivity

The hardware question

The Stream Deck Mini starts at around $80; the XL sits north of $200. That is a real cost of entry for a dedicated physical controller, and the tactile feedback of physical keys is a genuine advantage that a touchscreen cannot fully replicate. If you stream professionally and the haptic feel of a key matters to your workflow, the hardware Stream Deck is a legitimate choice.

But for the majority of users — content creators getting started, or anyone who does not want a piece of hardware on their desk — Klikor delivers the same functional result with your existing phone or tablet and no upfront spend. Klikor doesn't take over your device — you can still take calls, reply on WhatsApp, and use your phone or tablet exactly like normal. Klikor just adds an interface profile so you can dial in your workflow.

Stream Deck Mobile's free tier is very limited

Elgato does offer Stream Deck Mobile, which runs on iOS and Android. However, the free tier is heavily restricted — roughly six keys — making it barely usable for a real streaming setup. Full use of Stream Deck Mobile requires a recurring subscription. That means you are paying every month indefinitely for software on a phone you already own.

Klikor's free tier is genuinely unlimited: unlimited profiles, unlimited buttons per page, unlimited multi-page layouts, up to 500-step macros, PowerShell/CMD/Bash scripts, app launch, and generic webhooks — all free, forever. No credit card, no account, no subscription.

Pro: one-time vs subscription

Klikor Pro unlocks all platform integrations: OBS, Twitch, Kick, Trovo, Spotify, Discord, VoiceMeeter, Govee, and more — plus window presets and Chrome workspace control. The price is a one-time purchase on early-adopter pricing (free for the first 100 licenses, then $2.99, then $4.99). Pay once. Keep it forever. No renewal, no price hike at renewal time.

Privacy: LAN vs cloud

Stream Deck desktop software requires an Elgato account and routes through Elgato's infrastructure for certain features. Klikor is architecture-first about privacy: all commands travel directly from your phone to your PC over your local Wi-Fi — TLS encrypted, certificate-pinned via TOFU QR pairing. The Klikor backend runs entirely on your machine. No command ever touches a remote server. There is no account to create, no data to leak from a vendor breach, and the app still works fully when your internet connection is down.

Beyond streaming

Stream Deck is built for streamers and content creators. Klikor is agnostic: it handles streaming integrations as one use case alongside productivity macros, PowerShell automation, smart home control (Govee), and native Elite Dangerous and EVE Online gaming integrations with live state bindings. If your workflow spans more than one domain, you do not need a second controller.

Klikor's OBS and VoiceMeeter integrations are bidirectional — your buttons reflect the live state of the app, not a blind guess. You always know whether you're really muted or really live. Keystroke-only decks just fire a key and hope; the moment anything changes outside the deck their buttons drift out of sync — that's how you end up talking on mute while chat is yelling at you. Klikor stays locked to the truth — plus a growing set of first-party integrations, with more added on request.

Klikor requires a free desktop app installed on your Windows PC — the sidecar server runs there, so nothing routes through a cloud account. It's a free download, you own it, no account required. Commands stay on your machine.
